You Cannot Name or Rename Image Folders In A D200

Posted by David Chin on March 1st, 2007 in Tips on operating your Nikon D200

Here’s a quick note on what NOT to expect with the D200.

Lower end Nikon digital SLR cameras such as the Nikon D70 / D70s allows you to assign a name to, or rename an image folder. In higher end Nikon cameras such as the D2Xs or in this case, the D200, this feature is not available.

All that’s allowed is the ability to create new folders numbered 100 to 199 999 (thanks to TXCiclista for pointing out my error), and that’s it.

Just a little heads up for those upgrading from other cameras.

Actually, you can number them from 100 to 999, not 199. Folders default to “xxxND200″ where “xxx” is the number you choose. The number can be set to correspond to the menu bank so that different banks use different numbers. Not perfect, but better than nothing :)
